In 1986 Greg tracked Kirk down in Mississippi to ask him to be a part of his new band, Pieces of Eight. Kirk was thrilled to reconnect with Greg after his departure from Petra, and be a part of this new venture, so Kirk moved to Nashville, Tennessee in February of 1986, and they recorded “River is Rising.”
After playing in the orchestra, jazz band, and several rock bands while earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from Grove City College in Pennsylvania, Greg moved to Nashville in 1995 to pursue his music career.

In 1970 he became a born-again Christian and started performing with several Christian bands. He formed a band called Gideon's Bible, and later toured with a group known simply as e Band, which was a part of the Jesus Movement.
In 1981 he joined Petra becoming a staple of the band with his trademark drumming and style. Louie was an essential part of Petra during their peak years in the late 80's and early 90's.
In 1980, he joined the Joe English Band and recorded several albums with them, which included writing and co-producing projects. He also recorded with the band Forerunner where he shared credits as a songwriter, lead singer and producer along with keyboard player.
